The limitation of a headline number
A chromatographic purity percentage describes the relative area of the main detected peak under a particular method. It does not, by itself, prove that the peak represents the expected molecule.
Identity requires separate evidence
Identity may be supported through mass spectrometry or another compound-appropriate technique. Batch traceability also matters: the sample identifier on the analytical report should connect clearly to the material received by the laboratory.
Read the complete record
Researchers should consider purity, identity, method, sample information, test date and laboratory authentication together. The strongest quality review comes from the complete analytical record rather than one isolated percentage.
