Related signaling systems
GLP-1, GIP and glucagon act through distinct G protein-coupled receptors. Although their physiological roles overlap in metabolic research, receptor selectivity and signaling profiles differ.
Single and multi-receptor compounds
Laboratory programs may compare selective GLP-1 receptor agonists with dual GIP/GLP-1 or triple GIP/GLP-1/glucagon receptor agonists. Activity at multiple receptors does not mean equal potency at each target, so assay conditions and concentration-response data are essential.
Comparisons require consistent methods
Meaningful comparisons use the same cell system, readout, exposure period and analytical approach. Published headline values drawn from different assays should not be treated as directly interchangeable.
